This is the kind of music you need to ease into. The kind that takes you in slowly, let’s you slip under the covers, listen to the nothingness of outside and stretch your arms outwards into the vast sky. It’s the music you want to keep with you in those hushed winter months that seem endless. Like the snow will eventually bury us all and all we can do is push our breath into the air and watch the smoke clouds dissipate. I recently came across Small Sur, and it took me back to all those months I spent in frigid Canadian winters. Now, l sit in a perpetual state of summer sun, I can close my eyes and remember what kind of silence the winter once brought me.
