Nada Alic - our co-worker, amiga, inspiration, comrade, and fellow music snob - was invited to be a guest DJ at a local spot in San Diego called the Starlight Lounge last night. Presented monthly by our friends from SEZIO, we were proud and anxious to see what sort of 2-hour-long iTunes playlist she would come up with (as Nada is unaware as to how to turn on our in-office “Musictime” toy record player. See below). Welcome to 2011 Fatboy Slim.
She started the set playing obscurities that the average ear or Shazam application couldn’t place. Progressively, the night moved to my hometown of Detroit and its’ most praised genre, Motown, to 80’s Dance, 90’s hip-hop, then to an appropriate tribute to Biggie Smalls (RIP). DJ Nada Surfer Blood Brothers ended the night back to where it started and with what she knows best - the best of the not-yet-known indie bands.
It was a fun night with some good friends. If anyone from CAA or Paradigm Agency is reading, Nada could be your next Deadmau5. Just saying.
