The recent 8.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan has prompted musicians to reach out to their fans to help the victims.
Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda designed t-shirts for his Music for Relief charity. One shirt reads “Not Alone” and another is a paper crane type white butterfly. Donations of $10 can be made by texting MFR to 85944.
On Friday, Lady Gaga designed a special Japan Prayer bracelet which will go to Tsunami relief efforts. She also urged fans to visit the Citizens Effect website where donations will be matched by Google CEO Eric Schmidt and his wife Wendy. They’ve offered to match the first $100 000 donated to a special fund set up to help the Red Cross delivery emergency services to people in Japan.
Other celebrities like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Adam Lambert, Diddy, and Britney Spears tweeted their condolences and urged their fans to donate to the Red Cross.
You can help by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to Japan’s Emergency Relief.
